Meeting Management Summer Scholar

Department: Meeting Management
Location: Washington, DC

The intern will support all aspects of meeting planning, from site selection and contract negotiations through on-site event management for a full range of meetings and conferences varying in size from 25 to 500 participants. 


  • Assist in the sourcing of hotels, transportation and social event venues 
  • Reviews and tests meeting websites 
  • Assists with outbound shipment and return shipment 
  • Assists with onsite duties as assigned  
  • Assists with invoice reconciliation  
  • Reviews banquet event orders 
  • Supports planning for NGA events 
  • Answers general inquires via phone and email 
  • Summarizes meeting evaluations, surveys and other assessment tools 
  • Maintains appropriate files and records
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.  
  • Strong project management and organizational skills. 
  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to work well with various constituencies, both internal and external. 
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize projects; ability to respond to shifting priorities. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a team player. 
  • Must be flexible, able to travel and work weekends and overtime as meeting as schedules dictate. 
  • Education & Experience  
  • Must be currently pursuing a degree in hospitality, business, travel and tourism, or related field.  
  • Minimum 1 year experience of providing administrative assistance.


This is a paid internship at $15/hour.


The position will be from May 28th, 2019 - August 9th, 2019.
