Communications Scholar

Department: Office of Communications & Strategic Planning
Location: Washington, DC

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Draft memos and press releases; 
  • Conduct research and analysis drafting (e.g., briefing papers, proposals, reports); 
  • Assist with maintaining social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.); 
  • Create and edit newsletters; and 
  • Update internal and external documents.
TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Seeking a bachelor's or masterís degree in related discipline (e.g., journalism, mass communication, public relations); 
  • One to three years of experience in editing and writing, especially in a strategic or persuasive capacity; 
  • Familiarity with Adobe Suite; 
  • Strong attention to detail; 
  • Conversant in AP Style; 
  • Familiarity with social media channels; and 
  • Possesses analytical and organizational skills and the ability to work independently with little direction.

SALARY

This is a paid internship at $15/hour during the Summer of 2019.
